Epson’s New PowerLite X15 Projector Announced

April 10th, 2012

The PowerLite X15 projector was announced today by Epson America. The 3,000 lumen, XGA 3LCD projector is designed with education and small business users in mind.

The projector offers many connectivity options, including HDMI, USB Plug-n-Play, two VGA ports, audio and monitor out and RS232c. Power saving features include E-TORL lamp technology, which offers a lamp life of up to 5,000 hours (if used in economy mode), Instant On and Instant Off , as well as A/V Mute Slide, which turns off the sound and images during a pause in the presentation further conserving lamp life and energy consumption.

Ease of use, especially as it relates to image quality, is a big focus for the X15 too. Easy-Slide horizontal keystone correction allows for image adjustments, up to 30 degrees, to be made with the touch of a finger. QuickCorner allows the four corners of a slide to be moved independently to achieve a perfectly rectangular image. The PowerLite X15 also includes a 1.2 optical zoom lens. Finally, the unit has ADA section 508 compliant closed captioning for hearing impared students included. The unit will be available in May for an MSRP of $599.

Pacific Media’s recent End-User survey, which included K-12 teachers, showed that full-featured, inexpensive, eco-friendly projectors are what the education market wants. Looks like Epson has hit the mark with the PowerLite X15.
